Vertical Wheel Chair Lifts Vertical wheel chair lifts fall into two categories; those in private residences and those in public buildings. Each category is governed by a separate section of the ANSI A18.1 code. Vertical wheel chair lifts of both varieties are limited to 18 sq./ft of platform area, 14' of vertical travel and a speed of 30 feet per minute. Vertical wheel chair lifts typically have walls 42" high. |
