Elevator is a family owned and operated business. My father, brother
and I started the company in April of 1982. We started as an elevator
maintenance and repair company. In 1985, at the request of an existing
customer, we started installing residential elevators and dumbwaiters
manufactured by Sedgwick Machine. Later after Sedgwick decided to
discontinue operations, we installed units manufactured by Morse
Elevator Company (MECA).
Today, we continue to maintain all
makes and models of elevators as well as installing residential
elevators and dumbwaiters manufactured by Inclinator Company of
America. We install commercial elevators by Canton Elevator, Limited
Use Limited Application (LULA) elevators by Elevator Concepts and
vertical reciprocating conveyors (VRC) by Pflow Industries.
Another
service we provide is the modernization of older elevator equipment to
today's standard. Technology has come a long way and while mechanical
safety edges and single speed elevator controllers were state of the
art when installed, there is a better and much safer way to do things

At RMR
Elevator, we focus on safety and customer service. I feel that the two
focuses are synonymous. Ensuring our customer’s elevators are as
safe as possible and operate properly and reliably is our goal. Toward
this end, we routinely act as a liaison between our customer and the
elevator inspector; interpreting inspectors' requirements and relating
them to our customer in language they can understand and conveying our
customers' special needs to the inspector. Judging by the comments our
customers make and the scores we receive on our annual report card, we
must be doing something right!
A significant number of our
customers are private residences. These customers require special
attention and consideration. If you’re a residential customer of
ours we believe that your time is valuable. We show that we value your
time by making and honoring service appointments. How many service
companies will make an appointment to service your equipment and then
actually show up? We will.
I am very proud of the people I work with. They all have adopted my
philosophy that we are here to serve the customer and that attitude is evident
in the work we accomplish. Still, I believe we learn more from our failures than
our successes and it is how a firm deals with its failures that defines it more
than how it deals with its successes. As long as I am involved with this firm,
we will continually evaluate what we do and how we do it in an effort to do it
better. Furthermore, we will do our best to "make it right."
